Just have loads of time and am really bored so here it goes. A few months ago I noticed I get tons of water behind the passenger seat and could not figure out where it is coming from. The car started to smell after a rain and it go to such an extent that I had to put the fan on 4 in order to keep the smell down. It was really annoying me and since I had no clue where the smell was coming from I thought it might be the A/C, if the drain is clogged, bacterian starts growing and smell like you can never believe. So one weekend, I took apart, most of the front interior, including the passenger air bag just to find that puddle under and behind the seat. I could not figure out where the water was coming from until a few days ago I really tore almost everything apart and found a disconnected drain line from the sunroof, so all the water would flow around the rear door, by the rear seat and down on the floor. A few minutes and 4 zip ties and I not only got that drain secured there but went along and secured all the other drains (4 of them) in case they decide to fall off. So guys, if the car starts to smell like something rotten, look for puddles after a rain and if you find that, it just might be the sunroof. Open it up and put some water in the drains (the front are easy to find, just small holes at the fron corners) and if you get a bigger puddle (much easier to see with the crapet off or picked up to expose the metal), its the drain. Hope somebody actually uses this info.

my 21 year old car leaks like a biatch. sun roof (a little bit) passenger door(sometimes) and the trunk(both sides in the back, and the front near the roof. if i got new seals for those 3 places, it would run me over $250, so im gonna let it leak and get bilsteins instead.

Just don't use an impact wrench on something that only needs ~60lb/ft torque again. http://www.bmwchannel.com/bb/images/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif

I used to have the same problem on my '89 325i. The way I fixed it was there was a drain on the inside under the hood which got clogged up. Simply take it off, clean it out and it was flowing just fine again. There was also that time that it rained so much the sidewalk had become part of the gutter. Needless to say there was a pond on the passenger floor.
