I think I have a rattle in the right door speaker in my car. When the bass is a little up and the volume is up each time a good thud in a song comes by I hear an annoying rattle. But when I push on the speaker with my hand, I think the rattle is gone. Any ideas on how I can fix this myself or what I should do?

something could be loose. you could always take the panel off yourself and try tightening up the screws but i could be way wrong.

It should pop off with a screw driver? I dunno, never actually took the panels off or tried to.

I've taken the panel off in my E30 before. Can't remember how but I know it's possible. The speaker was either screwed in or bolted in along with the panel. Either way it should come off with a screw driver or a wrench or maybe I'm wrong completely and it does just pop off. I'm such a good mechanic[Roll Eyes]

On the E30 you have to remove that black thing that runs under the door (whatever it's called), then you have to remove one screw that's shared by both the panel and the speaker. Then you can access the speaker. Oh and on the drivers side you must remove the two bolts that hold on the hood release lever.

My rear speakers rattled when I pumped up the bass, how I cured it was I put some foam between the speaker ring and the grill. Sounds stupid but it worked!

Raiyu,
The door panel is held in by these button like studs. They pop in and out. Once you trace the outline of the door panel you will see what I mean. Ease the first one out with a screwdriver with a cloth over it so you dont mess up the upholstery.

If I get that satellite radio I may ask the guys who install it to check out the rattles as well, kill two birds with one stone, save myself the trouble.

...that's exactly what I was thinking. My subwoofer rattles a bit. That's the suggestion on some websites as well. [Smirk]

that's for an e36...i don't have any e46 links, but take a look it might be similar

i'd recommend buying a haynes or a bentley manual, those things help so much with diy stuff
-autozone carries them

hmm well you say you have bentley, correct?
I have Haynes; from what I hear its not as in depth, but it covers most of what I need. When there's something I can't find with the book I take to the forums :-D
